Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium – An Addictive Fragrance
When trying to pin point what the first item was that set me on my rediscovering journey, I would have to say it was the beautiful fragrance of Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium.
The first time I tested this fragrance was at Dubai airport. I remember it well.
My daughter and I were traveling to Scotland in September of 2014 to visit my parents, we were duty free shopping to pass the time. Black Opium had just been newly released.
I was instantly intoxicated by this fragrance and could not stop thinking about it! I was reminded of the fragrances I used to wear many years ago, expensive perfumes that were replaced by cheaper scents, as money was spent on other things.
I remember I would stop and smell the tester bottle of Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium everywhere it was sold! I was obsessed with this perfume. I knew this fragrance would be top of my Christmas list.
I was delighted when I received this from my husband that Christmas.
The perfume came in a beautiful gift box which included a 90ml size bottle, a travel size bottle with a black patent slip to carry it in and a black cosmetic bag.
We also gifted our daughter with Black Opium that Christmas, as she too was captivated by this beautiful scent. You can check out my daughter’s blog post review of Black Opium here (shameless plug!).
Although my bottle is getting quite low now, (I used the travel size bottle very quickly!) it has lasted very well as you don’t need a lot of this perfume as it is subtly strong but not overpowering, it settles into my skin very well leaving a beautiful fragrance lasting all day.
The design of the bottle is so beautiful and eye catching, and so easy to hold in your hand too; it is understated elegance.
This bottle grabbed my attention straight away, making me want to test it in the first place. I am glad I did!
yslbeautyus.com describe Black Opium as:
“The highly addictive feminine fragrance from Yves Saint Laurent. Fascinating and seductively intoxicating, the opening notes of adrenaline-rich coffee and the sweet sensuality of vanilla recline into the softness of white flowers for a modern, young and vibrant interpretation of addiction.” To me this describes Black Opium perfectly.
My little perfume collection has grown since then and I have to say I am very happy with it!
I look at my little Luxe corner on my chest of drawers and just smile. As well as Black Opium my perfume collection consists of Prada Candy, Gucci Bamboo, Chanel Chance, Gucci Flora Glorious Mandarin, Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom, Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia.
