Have You Discovered Jo Malone London?

I have always loved perfume. But it’s only been the last few years I have started to wear higher-end fragrances again after falling in love with YSL’s Black Opium (read my post here).

I had never heard of Jo Malone London before, but I was captivated when I first saw their display in a department store. It looked so luxurious, with clean crisp white furniture, and beautiful clear understated bottles – it was simply stunning. There are so many tester bottles of perfume on display (it was a bit overwhelming, but exciting at the same time), but there was one scent that had me hooked straight away – enter Mimosa and Cardamom! I knew this was going to be the next perfume on my Christmas list.

About Jo Malone London

 

Jo Malone London is a British perfume brand, named after the founder, Jo Malone.  Jo Malone sold her brand to Estee Lauder Companies in 1999. However, Jo did continue to work with the brand as the Creative Director until 2006. After leaving, Jo had to wait for a 5-year mandatory non-compete, meaning she was not allowed to create any perfume or skin care products for 5 years.

In 2011 (after 5 years) Jo was back, launching a new fragrance brand called Jo Loves. I really want to smell these fragrances too as I adore the brand Jo Malone London. Plus, you can never have too much perfume in your life!

 

What Jo Malone London Sell

 

Fragrances are not the only products this beautiful brand sell, they also sell luxury candles, room diffusers, bath oil, hand and body lotion, hand and body wash, body scrub, body creme, lip conditioner – the list goes on and on! Their products are the height of luxury. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Their fragrances fall into collections of scents, which are: Citrus, Fruity, Light Floral, Floral, Spicy, Woody, and Intense. Their fragrances are available in two different size bottles: 100mls ($198 AUD) and 30mls ($98 AUD).

They also have limited edition fragrances (a word of warning though – they sell very quickly). The limited edition fragrances are generally in different coloured and styled bottles from the original fragrances.

 

My Jo Malone London Fragrances

 

I am lucky to have two beautiful Jo Malone London fragrances. My first fragrance is the lovely Mimosa and Cardamom – this is such a gorgeous floral fragrance. My second fragrance is the lovely fruity English Pear and Freesia.

I honestly didn’t think I could love a Jo Malone London fragrance more than I loved Mimosa and Cardamom, but then I fell in love with English Pear and Freesia. Next on my radar is Velvet Rose and Oud, this is from the Intense range, which is slightly dear at $270 (AUD) for 100mls, or $170 (AUD) for 50mls. The intense range is also in a black bottle rather than a clear bottle.

An interesting fact about Jo Malone London is you can layer their different fragrances together – to create your own unique scent!  Every one of their scents has been tested with each other for compatibility. I find this so amazing!

 

 

Jo Malone London’s Cruelty-Free Status

 

Even though they do not test on animals, they do allow their products to be sold in Mainland China and this is what lands them on the non-cruelty-free list. Sadly, mainland China does test beauty products on animals. So the products that are purchased in countries other than mainland China are indeed cruelty-free, so that is good news.

The official statement, on their stance on animal testing, can be found on the Jo Malone website. Let’s hope that mainland China stops animal testing soon or they stop selling their products there.

 

Where can I buy Jo Malone London?

 

In Australia, Jo Malone London can be found in selected Myer and David Jones department stores. I also believe online from Mecca too, or you can also buy directly from the Jo Malone website. The website also has a store locator for your selected country and city. Sephora in the US stock Jo Malone as does Selfridges in the UK.
