Meet Author Anna Willett – An Australian Thriller Writer
I am so thrilled for you to meet Author Anna Willett – An Australian Thriller Writer. Oh my goodness, this post is wayyyy overdue! Anna is my dearest friend, we have been close friends since high school, which was many moons ago now! I have wanted to write this blog post for so long, but I wanted it to be perfect, and then I realised, nothing is perfect! So here I go – I want to share Annas’s books with as many people as I can.
About The Author
I am beyond proud of Anna, she has 16 books under her belt, I think that is incredible. She is a very talented writer. Anna only started writing later on in life, her first published ebook was in 2016, and then it was published in paperback the following year. She has been non-stop writing since. All of Anna’s books are available via Amazon in ebook, paperback and some on audiobooks too.
Anna’s focus in her writing is on strong female lead characters who are often overcoming dangerous and difficult situations. The stories are set in small populated forest towns in the southwest of Western Australia, and also in Western Australia’s capital city Perth. She writes psychological, suspenseful thrillers. I may be biased, but her books are incredible, they are true edge-of-your-seat thrillers!
I am always so submerged in Anna’s tales, they really draw you in with their well-written characters and suspenseful plots. There are always twists, turns, tension and mystery around each corner. Her stories really stay with me, I feel like I am right there with the characters.
Anna’s books in order:
Backwoods Ripper – Paige and Hal Loche venture down south for a babymoon, a final chance for them to be alone before the baby arrives. The babymoon is anything but relaxing.
Retribution Ridge – Estranged sisters Milly and Judith both join a group hiking trip, Milly is hoping for a reconciliation. Revenge is on the cards, but who in the group enacts it?
Unwelcome Guests – Married couple Eli and Caitlin head off for a weekend getaway to a country house. Caitlin is hoping to fix her failing marriage. Things take a turn for the worse when Cailin heads into the wine cellar and finds more than she bargained for.
Forgotten Crimes – Once close friends, Gloria and Rhetty meet up in a bar. Rhetty has changed, she is not her former self, and it all goes back to an incident a few years ago.
Cruelty’s Daughter – Mina, a reclusive woman decides to get her life back on track by taking a college course. A younger girl tries to befriend Mina, but Mina brushes her off. The young girl is then abducted by a serial killer and Mina feels responsible. Mina then risks her own life to save the girl.
Small Town Nightmare – Lucy’s younger brother has gone missing. When she sets out to find him, the trail takes her to Night Town. Local Police are anything but helpful, she meets a man who might help her, but is he all he says he is?
Vengence Blind – Successful novelist Belle is recovering from a road accident that left her half-blind and in a wheelchair. A home care assistant looks after Belle while her husband leaves for a work trip away. Belle’s world starts to close in on her as she is being victimised, and she must use her imagination to stay alive.
Cold Valley Nightmare – When four-year-old Clem goes missing without a trace, investigative journalist Lucy Hush helps to find the missing boy. The trail leads into the harsh Australian bush and into a terrible nightmare for Lucy.
The Woman Behind Her – Jackie inherits her late Aunt’s house. She discovers her Aunt has been keeping a terrible secret. Someone is watching Jackie, is it linked to her Aunt’s past?
Savage Bay Nightmare – Drifter Tim Hush falls for Faith, an attractive woman he meets on a beach. Tim’s sister Lucy rushes to the small coastal town after Tim is arrested for Faith’s murder. Not all is as it appears.
Pest – Thorn Town, a small town is in the grip of a deadly outbreak. People become sick after seeing a strange girl at night. Cafe owner Maggie is convinced the girl holds the key to this deadly virus.
Beast – Beast contains two horror stories: Last call – Two friends, Dursha and Jackie decide to check out an abandoned hotel, were they find a phone number written across one of the walls. Do they dare ring the number? The Widow – Dan, down on his luck, attends a party where he meets a stranger, he offers Dan a job helping a widow. The widow is alluring, but she is not as she seems.
Dear Neighbour – Amy and her boyfriend Zane move into a house together. She hopes for a fresh start. Amy befriends the older couple who live next door. In a series of events, the two households collide together in a fatal entanglement.
The Family Man – When Dustin clears out the loft in his new house he gets more than he bargained for. He stumbles across an old video camera, the footage showing four people being held captive and tortured. Dustin calls the police. Veronika Pope investagates who got away with Murder many years earlier.
Lost To The Lake – Marty and Beth, the perfect couple, or so it seems, endure a home invasion. Marty is keeping a secret from Beth. They travel to a lake retreat, will Beth discover Marty’s secret in time?
The Newlywed – Newlyweds Jane and Richard Wilson drive to the small coastal town of Seabreak to visit Richards’s twin brother. Soon after Jane disappears without a trace and is never seen again. Years later, the cold case is reopened. Will justice finally be served?
Book Series
All of Anna’s books are stand-alone stories, however, she has written a series starring investigative journalist Lucy Hush. There are three books in the Lucy Hush series, Small Town Nightmare, Cold Valley Nightmare and Savage Bay Nightmare. Although in a series these can be read as stand-alone books.
Detective Veronika Pope
Anna introduced Detective Veronika Pope in The Woman Behind Her, then again in The Family Man, and also in her most recent book The NewlyWed. I love to read how Detective Pope solves crimes and cold case mysteries, Veronika is a strong female character. Again, all books can be read as stand-alone stories.
Horror
For horror fans, there is something for you here too. Anna has always loved reading horror stories, so it was only natural she wanted to write some too. Pest is a scary supernatural nail-biter! Beast contains two horror stories, Last call and The Widow.
If you love reading a great thriller story I highly recommend checking Anna’s books out!
