Kate Somerville Hydration Warriors Kit Review

Following on from my last post (read here) about mini-sized skincare products, I thought I would review the Kate Somerville Hydration Warriors Kit. This kit is definitely much higher priced than the Mario Badescu Kit I previously reviewed. However, I still stand by kits in general, as I do believe minis are the best way to try out new products – particularly skincare items that are at a higher price point. This enables you to try before you invest your money into a full-size product that you may not like, or your skin may not agree with.

So, on to the Kate Somerville Hydration Warriors Kit review. I will say this, I wouldn’t buy two of these products again – which two? Let’s find out.

Products the kit contains

The Kate Somerville Hydration Warriors kit contains:

  • Cold Cream Moisturising Cleanser & Makeup Remover
  • Wrinkle Warrior Pink Plumping Mask
  • DermalQuench Wrinkle Warrior Advanced Hydration & Plumping Treatment
  • Wrinkle Warrior 2-in-1 plumping Moisturiser & Serum

This kit is all about hydration, hydration, and more hydration. The products are jam-packed with Hyaluronic Acid to plump, soften, and nourish your skin.

Priced at $120 (AUD), it isn’t cheap, but Kate Somerville is a high-end brand so the price of her products reflects this. This kit is available at Mecca in Australia and internationally at Ulta Beauty $75 (USD), SpaceNK for £65 (GBP), Cult Beauty also have this kit but interestingly without the mask, which retails at a much cheaper price of £35 (GBP) (which in my opinion is much better value!). You can also purchase it directly from katesomerville.com which ships to the US, Canada, UK, and China (via their partner Beyond). Again, this version of the kit comes without the mask and is priced at $35 (USD).

A big plus in my books is that Kate Somerville is a cruelty-free brand.

Cold Cream Moisturising Cleanser & Makeup Remover

This cold cream cleanser is infused with white honey and a beautiful floral blend of Jasmine, Rose, and Daisy to soften the skin while it removes all traces of makeup (including mascara!). It is very different from traditional, older cold cream cleansers. The texture has been lightly whipped and feels very lightweight and non-greasy.

I found this cold cream cleanser to do a great job, it smells lovely and definitely moisturises as it gets to work. It didn’t particularly wow me though. The cleanser doesn’t seem to be sold separately anymore, if it was I wouldn’t repurchase it as I am sure it would have been expensive.

Wrinkle Warrior Pink Plumping Mask

Loaded full of Hyaluronic Acid and rich in Vitamin C, this mask hydrates to plump out fine lines and wrinkles. It is a gel texture, hot pink in colour with sparkles running through it. If you are like me, that is instant attraction. However, that is where the attraction stopped, I really didn’t see much of a difference in my skin after using this mask. My skin did feel softer, so perhaps if you have dehydrated skin you will like this mask. I just don’t reach for this mask often, so I would not repurchase this mask. As with the cold cream cleanser, I can’t find this mask sold separately.

DermalQuench Wrinkle Warrior Advanced Hydrating & Plumping Treatment

DermalQuench is loaded with three molecule sizes of Hyaluronic Acid that penetrate the top, middle and lower levels of the skin, resulting in plumping out fine lines and wrinkles.  This product also contains radiance-boosting oxygen foam to help improve the skin barrier function, resulting in smooth, bright skin.

At first, I didn’t like the applicator dispenser nozzle, but I did warm to it, and in the end, I quite liked it! When you press the actuator button the foam dispenses into the palm of your hand. The foam is lovely and light to apply, like soft little bubbles, it left my skin feeling super soft and hydrated. This product is expensive, but I would love to repurchase it.

Wrinkle Warrior 2-in-1 Plumping Moisturiser & Serum

This 2-in-1 combo is a very lightweight gel. Again, it is loaded full of Hyaluronic Acid to smooth and plump out fine lines and wrinkles. it also contains Sichuan Pepper, which visibly reduces wrinkles while firming the skin.

To me, this is the star of the kit – I absolutely love this product! Being a 2-in-1 moisturiser and serum this is such a time saver, especially when you are having a late night and can’t be bothered with a complicated skincare routine. It felt so velvety soft to apply and left my skin feeling super soft and hydrated. It actually felt like a very luxurious part of my skincare routine, I really felt like my skin was having a treat when I used this. I only used this product during my nighttime routine, as I felt like my foundation didn’t apply as smoothly as normal over the top of it. This product is expensive, but I would love to repurchase it.

Rounding Up

Even though two of the products in this kit didn’t wow me too much, I did still enjoy them, and I would still recommend buying them. The products last for a really long time and although expensive, I do think this kit is really good value for money. I received this kit from my daughter as a birthday present and was thrilled. The packaging is so luxurious, the hot pink colour is so eye-catching and makes me very happy! This kit really is a beautiful treat. I think it would make a lovely gift for someone who loves skincare. If you do buy this kit, one tip is when you think the 2-in-1 serum and moisturiser is finished, it probably isn’t, keep pumping until no more product comes out. I was surprised at how long it kept going when I thought it was empty.
